China's Trailer Exports Rise 18% YoY, Specialized Models Become New Favorites in Belt And Road Markets

I. Specialized Trailers Become Main Driver of Export Growth, Demand for Segmented Scenarios Surges

From the perspective of export model structure, general-purpose flatbed and stake trailers still maintain steady growth, but the explosive growth of specialized trailers has become the biggest highlight. Among them, the export volume of low-bed trailers suitable for engineering machinery transportation increased by 25% year-on-year, mainly flowing to Southeast Asia, the Middle East and other regions with strong infrastructure demand; the export growth rate of refrigerated and insulated trailers for fresh food and pharmaceutical transportation reached 32%, with a significant increase in orders from European and South American markets; tank-type trailers for chemical and energy transportation, relying on customized tank design, have captured over 30% of the market share in Central Asia.

"In the past, most customers only asked about the price of general-purpose trailers, but now 80% of inquiries clearly require customized needs such as 'complying with European cold chain standards' and 'adapting to 120-ton excavator transportation'," said the overseas business director of an import-export trailer factory. The average profit margin of specialized trailers is 15%-20% higher than that of general-purpose models, and customers have higher repurchase rates, making it a key layout direction for enterprises.

II. "Belt and Road" Countries Become Core Markets, Localized Service Upgraded

Data shows that in the first half of the year, the export volume of trailers from China to countries along the "Belt and Road" accounted for 58% of the total, with Vietnam, Indonesia and Kazakhstan ranking among the top three export destinations. Beyond the products themselves, localized compliance services and after-sales support have become the key to enterprises' competition.

To adapt to the needs of different markets, leading enterprises have formed an integrated solution of "certification + customization + service": for the European market, they have completed CE and EBS system certifications in advance; for the Australian market, they are equipped with VIN code tracing systems complying with ADR standards; for the hot and humid climate in Southeast Asia, they have optimized the anti-corrosion process of trailer frames, extending the service life to more than 8 years. At the same time, many enterprises have established after-sales parts centers in Thailand, Malaysia and other countries, realizing "48-hour response and 72-hour on-site maintenance" to solve the worries of overseas customers.

III. Technological Upgrading Drives Competitiveness Improvement, Lightweight and Intelligent Trends Emerge

Behind the export growth is the technological upgrading of China's trailer industry. At present, more than 80% of enterprises in the industry have adopted Q345B high-strength steel to produce frames, and some enterprises have achieved a weight reduction of 30% per trailer through the application of aluminum alloy materials, which not only reduces transportation fuel consumption but also helps customers increase cargo capacity.

Intelligent configurations are also accelerating their popularization. Among trailers exported to Europe, more than 90% are equipped with Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS), and 60% are equipped with remote diagnosis functions, which can transmit real-time data such as vehicle driving status and brake system pressure to help customers avoid potential fault risks in advance. "In the past, customers bought a 'transportation tool', but now they are buying an 'efficient transportation solution'," industry experts pointed out. Technological upgrading has significantly enhanced the bargaining power of Chinese trailers in the international market, and the prices of some high-end specialized models have approached the level of similar European products.

With the recovery of global logistics demand and the deepening of the "Belt and Road" initiative, the industry expects that China's trailer exports will continue to maintain a growth rate of more than 15% in the second half of the year. Specialized models, localized services and technological innovation will continue to be the "three pillars" driving the high-quality development of the industry.
