Export Scale Continues to Rise, Emerging Markets Flourish on Multiple Fronts
China's trailer export market showed an accelerated expansion trend in 2025. According to industry data statistics, the total export volume of China's commercial vehicles in the first four months of 2025 reached 327,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 13.7%. The export volume of semi-trailers, as a core component, continued to account for a higher proportion, and the year-on-year growth rate of commercial vehicle exports in April alone reached 15.3%. Traditional advantageous markets maintained steady growth, with strong demand from countries such as Vietnam, Tanzania, and Kazakhstan, making them the "stabilizers" for trailer exports.
At the same time, the layout in emerging markets has achieved remarkable results. Due to the accelerated infrastructure construction in Africa, Southeast Asia, and Central Asia, the demand for upgrading logistics equipment has surged. Chinese trailers have quickly seized market share by virtue of their adaptability advantages. Taking Yuncheng's special-purpose vehicle industry as an example, its products have been exported to more than 20 countries and regions including North America, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, and Africa. From January to May this year, the export earnings reached 130 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9%. Leading enterprises such as CIMC have also delivered batches of products such as engineering dump semi-trailers and mixers to markets in Africa and the Middle East, deeply participating in local infrastructure projects.
Policy-Technology Resonance Drives Comprehensive Upgrade of Product Competitiveness
The explosive growth of the export market is inseparable from the dual support of policy guidance and technological innovation. At the national level, policies related to the new energy vehicle industry and the improvement of road transportation regulations have promoted enterprises to accelerate technological upgrading, making export products more in line with international compliance requirements. Local governments have helped enterprises go global through precise services. For instance, Yuncheng County launched the "I Find Orders for Enterprises" campaign, organizing enterprises to participate in exhibitions in Vietnam and other countries to connect with customers. In Yangzhuangji Town alone, receiving 9 batches of foreign businessmen directly led to 36 million yuan worth of orders.
Technological upgrading has become the core key for Chinese trailers to break into overseas markets. Enterprises have increased R&D investment one after another. The R&D investment of enterprises such as Shandong Yuncheng Xinya Trailer Manufacturing Co., Ltd. increased by nearly 20% year-on-year, and production efficiency increased by 40% after the introduction of digital and intelligent welding production lines. By establishing technical cooperation mechanisms with universities, the industry has developed 57 new products and transformed 82 scientific and technological achievements, promoting the upgrading of products to high-end. At present, exported trailers have generally achieved the "three modernizations" upgrade: in terms of new energy, the export of new energy semi-trailers increased by 3.5 times year-on-year, and breakthroughs in battery and lightweight material technologies have significantly enhanced product competitiveness; in terms of intelligence, systems such as intelligent driving assistance and remote monitoring are widely used, meeting the high requirements of overseas markets for efficiency and safety; modular design adapts to multi-scenario transportation needs, further enhancing the international adaptability of products.
Innovation in Overseas Expansion Modes, with Both Opportunities and Challenges
Facing changes in the overseas market, Chinese trailer enterprises are breaking through traditional trade thinking and exploring diversified overseas expansion paths. Yuncheng County has broken the store sales model and expanded customer sources through cross-border integration methods such as live-streaming e-commerce and social e-commerce, once facilitating an intentional contract of 26 million yuan in one go. Leading enterprises have launched the upgrading of global layout-from CIMC's regional bulk delivery to Zhongce's construction of industrial parks in Zambia, the overseas expansion of Chinese trailers is transforming from single product export to full-value chain services and localized operations.
Industry experts point out that although China's truck exports are expected to exceed 1 million units in 2025, with market shares in Southeast Asia, Africa, and South America reaching 30%, 25%, and 20% respectively, challenges such as trade barriers and intensified international competition still need to be addressed. In the future, only by continuously deepening technological innovation, accurately matching regional needs, and improving the overseas service network can China consolidate the advantageous position of its trailers in the global market.
